Booking & Reservations
For trips that are available to book immediately, you can book directly through our website by visiting the trip listing page and clicking the "Book Now" button. For all other trips, including custom safaris or retreats, you should Schedule a Call or Contact Us and our team will guide you through the process.
A deposit is required at the time of booking to reserve your place on the trip. The deposit amount varies by trip and is clearly stated on each trip listing page. The remaining balance is due 60 days before departure.
Absolutely! For groups of six or more, skip the website booking and get in touch. We specialize in private, purpose-built journeys with special arrangements and pricing designed specifically for larger groups.
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for peak season departures. Popular trips can sell out 3–6 months in advance. Last-minute availability occasionally exists. Reach out and we will let you know what is available.
Payments & Cancellations
We accept bank transfers and all major credit or debit cards. Credit cards payments may be subject to a processing fee. All payments are processed securely. If you have questions about payment options, please contact us.
Our full cancellation policy is detailed in our Booking Terms & Conditions. In summary:
- Cancellations more than 90 days before departure: deposit forfeited, remainder refunded.
- 60–90 days before departure: 50% of the total trip cost is non-refundable.
- Fewer than 60 days before departure: no refund, though transfer to another departure may be possible.
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers trip cancellation.
In the rare event that JoyBound Adventures cancels a trip due to circumstances within our control, you will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to another departure. If a trip is cancelled due to force majeure (e.g., extreme weather, government travel advisories), we will work with you to find the best alternative resolution, though refunds may be subject to supplier policies.
Travel & Logistics
Flights are not included in our trip prices unless explicitly stated in the trip listing or arranged as part of a custom-trip itinerary. We will provide recommended gateway airports and arrival windows so you can book the flights that best suit your schedule. We are happy to advise on routing.
Each trip listing includes a detailed inclusion and exclusion list. Typically, the following are included: accommodation throughout the itinerary, all meals, ground transportation, guiding fees, park and permit fees, and group equipment where applicable. Flights, travel insurance, visa fees, and personal spending money are generally excluded.
Visa requirements depend on your nationality and destination. We will provide destination-specific guidance in your pre-trip information pack, but it is your responsibility to obtain the correct visas before departure. Check with the relevant embassy or utilize a visa service well in advance of your trip.
We provide a detailed, destination-specific packing list as part of your pre-departure information. General guidance is to pack light, bring moisture-wicking and layered clothing, and invest in good trail running shoes. Specific gear requirements are listed on each trip page.
Health, Safety & Insurance
Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance — including emergency medical evacuation cover — is mandatory for all JoyBound Adventures trips. You will be asked to provide your policy details before departure. Visit our Travel Insurance page for guidance on what your policy should cover.
Vaccination requirements and recommendations vary by destination and personal health history. We strongly advise consulting a travel medicine clinic at least 6–8 weeks before your departure date. We will include destination-specific health advisories in your pre-trip information pack.
All JoyBound lead guides hold Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or equivalent certification. Groups carry comprehensive first-aid kits, and guides have pre-confirmed knowledge of nearest medical facilities and evacuation routes. Where cellular coverage is limited, guides carry satellite communication devices. Read more on our Safety & Risk Management page.
Trip Experience
We offer trips ranging from easy cultural journeys to challenging multi-day trail runs. Each trip listing includes a fitness rating and a description of the daily activity level. We encourage you to assess your fitness honestly and contact us if you have any questions about whether a trip is right for you.
We intentionally cap group sizes to minimize our impact on local ecosystems and communities and to ensure a quality experience for every traveler. Maximum group sizes vary by trip and are stated on each trip listing page. Most trips have a maximum of 12 participants.
We love solo travelers! Travelers who join us solo find that our small groups make it easy to connect with like-minded people. We can also try to match solo travelers with a same-gender roommate to avoid single supplement charges where possible.
We do our best to accommodate dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-related needs. Please list your dietary requirements on your booking form. Note that in remote areas, options may be more limited, and we will communicate this clearly in your pre-trip information.
